New Wetland Themed Work

These two collaborative pieces just came off the easel. They are another example of collaborative work between me and my sister Lyn Jackson ( These are mixed media pieces painted on re-purposed cabinet doors.

Wetland Prince, mixed media, 17 13/16" x 21 5/16"

Wetland Gem, mixed media, 39 14/16" x 17 14/16"

is a freshly finished 24" X 24" acrylic. Herons can be both beautiful and unnerving. I try to not glorify my subjects by only focusing on their perfect beauty, but also portray the darker underside.

Red String of Fate

Red String of Fate, 20"x 20" acrylic on canvas

The Red String of Fate originates from a Chinese myth. According to this myth, the gods tie an invisible red cord around the ankles of those that are destined to meet one another in a certain situation or help each other in a certain way. Ravens are very social birds and tightly bound to their mate. In this piece I painted a lone raven with a broken string. I will let you generate the story from here.

Approach! 36"x 24" acrylic on canvas
I just pulled this piece off the easle and I am quiet happy with it. I worked to capture the energy and movement of a raven flying. I think I came close. I love working this this movement and energy.

Something is approaching!

New Work

The old Idiom Theater is undergoing a transformation into the Artists 12 Pop-up Gallery. This is a new space for our Pop Up Gallery Group (Artists 12). We have been busy transforming this space into an art experience. We'll be ready for the Downtown Art Walk this Friday: August 5th 6pm-9pm - 1418 Cornwall Avenue, Bellingham WA. (down the hall from Allied Arts Gallery).

I will have fresh pieces inspired by my recent trip to the north end of the Salish Sea. These small pieces each represent a location, and the flora and fauna that impressed me from that location.

Remember we are up for one night only and then we disappear until our next surprise show. See you there!

The following is a bit about the Salish Sea and the pieces I created in its honor
